Kick start your healthy journey for the well being and fitness of your body. Everyone likes to have their food tasty but they always compromise the nutrition side. Most of us are addicted to junk and fast foods because of their tempting looks and appealing tastes. These foods can create short and long term health complications. For a healthy living we should completely avoid junk foods and fast foods from our meals. Kickstarting your healthy journey may take time but it is worth it .
Here are some practical steps to a healthier eating path:
Action plan
Create an action plan according to your time. Develop a balanced diet chart for two weeks, which will make the process easier. Craft your current fitness level. Then track your fitness progress weekly which can help to do improvements in your plan.
Discover more about the fundamentals of basic nutrition:
Before starting the healthy eating journey, educate yourself with the basic knowledge about the nutrients and healthy lifestyle. Understanding the basics will help you to plan the entire process. If needed consult a clinical nutritionist which will make this journey more easy and comfortable.
Healthy swapping
Swap the unhealthy ingredients with the healthier ones. Like swap sugar with honey, palm or dates sugar, dates syrup and jaggery. Sugar can be called a white poison. It does not have any nutritional benefit for healthy functioning. High intake of sugar can increase the risk of diabetics, obesity, fatty liver, inflammation etc.
Swap maida( all purpose flour/refined wheat flour) with whole wheat. Maida has zero nutrition and has zero fiber. Intake of maida can cause digestion issues, obesity, weight gain, bloating and intestinal discomfort. Replacing maida with the whole wheat is the best option. Whole wheat contains folic acid, vitamins, minerals, fiber, calcium , antioxidants which helps to reduce inflammation in our body.
Replace non-stick and aluminum cookwares with iron and stainless steel. Iron and steel cookware has many advantages over non-stick and aluminum cookwares. Iron cookwares are highly durable and retain heat evenly helping to preserve the nutrients and minerals. While using iron cookware , iron is released into the food which helps to prevent iron deficiency. Stainless steel does not react with any acidic food and it is non chipping. Non-stick cookwares are easy to use , and food doesn’t stick on the surface. But while cooking on high heat it releases harmful fumes which is bad for our health.
Stay Hydrated
Water is very essential for the human body to function properly. Human body is made up of an average of 60% of water and the percentage rate may slightly vary in individuals. Staying hydrated is very important for the digestion, nutrients absorption, prevents constipation, better skin health, lubricate joints, maintaining body temperature and kidney functioning.
Small Portions for a Balanced Diet:
Portion control is one of the important steps towards healthy eating. Eat the right amount of food for your body. Incorporate the required nutrients in your plate like proteins, fibers, carbs, minerals. Include more vegetables in your meals not carbs. Overeating can lead to digestion issues, obesity, decreased energy levels, poor sleep, increased risk of chronic diseases etc.
Always remember healthy eating enhances your overall well being. This transformative journey takes time. Remember the phrase “ SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE” , yes it takes time, patience and commitment to reach our goal.
